


Julie is using the Red Cross Leveled Swim Lesson plans in accordance with the Water Safety Instructor certification course. In addition to learning and practicing the swim skills it takes to be a fast, efficient swimmer, each practice will also include instruction and time to practice methods for improving their entire well-being, the SPEIER way.

Beginners/Levels 1&2
Water Exploration, Fundamental Skills and Fundamental Stroke Development. Make a splash into the world of swimming with our Level 1 & 2 Kids Swim Course! Designed for children who are new to the water or need to build foundational skills, this class offers a safe and exciting environment for young swimmers to develop confidence, comfort, and basic swimming techniques.
Key Learning Objectives:
1. Water Familiarity: Help children become comfortable in the water through games, splashing, and interactive activities.
2. Breath Control: Teach the basics of breath control, including blowing bubbles and getting comfortable with having their face in the water.
3. Buoyancy and Floating: Introduce floating techniques, allowing children to experience the sensation of being supported by the water.
4. Kicking and Arm Movements: Guide children in practicing kicking and basic arm movements to initiate the swimming motion.
5. Water Safety: Teach essential water safety rules and practices, including entering and exiting the pool safely.
6. Introduction to New Strokes: Introduce new strokes such as the elementary backstroke and sidestroke, broadening participants’ repertoire of swimming techniques.
7. Deep Water Comfort: Enhance comfort and confidence in deeper water through treading water and floating exercises.
8. Introduction to Diving: Introduce basic diving techniques from the poolside, preparing swimmers for more advanced diving skills in later levels.

Intermediate/Level 3
Stroke Refinement: Fine-tune basic swimming strokes (front crawl, backstroke) by improving coordination, body positioning, and breathing techniques. Stroke Development and Water Stamina.
Key Learning Objectives:
1.Stroke Refinement: Improve previously learned strokes (front crawl, backstroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke) by honing technique and efficiency.
2.Introduction to Breaststroke: Learn the basics of the breaststroke, focusing on coordination, glide, and kick.
3.Endurance Building: Increase swim distances to improve water stamina and build confidence in longer swims.
4.Diving Skills: Learn safe and controlled entry techniques, including standing dives and kneeling dives.
Course Schedule and Pricing
Courses are offered in 8 week sessions, our first session begins Tuesday, September 12th and runs through Thursday, November 2nd. Students can attend once a week, either Tuesdays or Thursdays for $80 for the session or attend twice a week on both Tuesdays and Thursdays for $140. Class Structure:
Each session is designed to enhance stroke proficiency and introduce new skills progressively. Swimmers will have the opportunity to refine techniques, build endurance, and expand their aquatic abilities.
Transportation
At this time, due to access issues in Pelican Eyes we will leave from the park at 3:30pm and drive up together in Julie’s Safari. Julie will transport you back to the park after practice at 4:30pm.
